However historically, I have not been a big fan of vision boards. But that’s not because they don’t work! I’m afraid it’s just my snobby design sense talking. (Before moving abroad and becoming a life coach, I was an interior designer!) I just don’t like the look of a messy board but that’s very much a me thing–not a reflection of vision boards in general.
You definitely don’t have to create a vision board in order to manifest what you want! There are loads of other techniques out there that you can play with. But if you’re interested in creating one for yourself, you’re in the right place! Keep reading to find out how.
How Does A Vision Board Work For Manifestation?
The vision board works in three powerful ways.
First, it makes you actually decide on what you want and commit to it. That might sound strange but there are still many would-be manifestors out there who are secretly afraid of setting intentions. Perhaps they’re afraid of failure or they simply feel they are not enough. The simple act of deciding what you want and creating a visual representation of that is a powerful move unto itself.
Second, it serves as a way for your intention to be made manifest. From a magickal point of view, a vision board is like a sigil. It’s a symbol that you make more powerful with the more effort and energy you put into it. I also think there’s simply a lot of power in taking an idea in your head and making it physical by writing it down or drawing it etc. (Because that’s a step farther than most people will ever take!) The vision board supports this idea nicely.
Lastly, the vision board serves as a regular reminder of what you want to your subconscious mind. The more you look at your vision board, the more you “see to believe” and remind your subconscious mind of what you really want. Don’t forget that your subconscious mind is the true power in manifestation–which is why this method really works!
How To Create A Vision Board For Manifestation in 2024: A Modern Step-By-Step Guide
Vision Board 2024 Ideas Step #1: Start Thinking About Your Ideal Future Self Life
Before you even begin, it’s useful to take a moment to start thinking about what you want to manifest.
If you’re like me, you can get a bit off track sometimes: pinning too many things or multiple images for the same desire.
It’s important to create your vision board with true intention. So that means figuring out what you want before you pin a single thing.
Vision Board 2024 Ideas Step #2: Gather Your Supplies
If you want to make your vision board in one crafternoon, you’d better make sure you’ve got your supplies together first.
It’s a nice idea to create one vision board for one year (or season). So you could start creating your vision board for 2024 starting right now.
However, there’s no rule that says a vision board must be created in one go. In fact, many people are constantly playing with their vision boards and upgrading them throughout the year.
Vision Board Ideas For Manifestation:
Paper
The classic way to make a vision board is with paper and scissors.
You can grab a fat stack of magazine and start cutting things out. Many people swear by this method but for me I find it a bit impersonal at times. If you want a specific house or car or whatever, it can be hard to source that exact item from your magazine collection.
A nice color printer comes in handy here! That way you can scour the whole web for the exact image that you want and print out it out for yourself.
Personally, I’m not big on the printer idea either which is why I prefer a digital option. (More on that below!)
As for the board itself, a cork board and pins are always a great way to go. That way you can pin and re-pin your images to your hearts delight.
If you want a more permanent version, grab yourself a poster board (or something similar) and some glue. Many people prefer a permanent version so they can look back after one year (or so) and see just how much they’ve manifested.
You can also throw out the board part altogether and make a vision board journal if that feels more aligned. The cool thing about that is that you can take it with you to work or wherever, so that you can look at it anytime you like.
There’s really no right or wrong here so do what feels best for you!
Digital Vision Board Ideas For Manifestation:
Pinterest Vision Board
If you (like me!) love yourself a good Pinterest sesh, then here’s your chance to shine. Make yourself a new board (private or not!) and get to pinning.
Pinterest makes it super easy to find almost anything you want to add. Plus you can also pin from almost anywhere on the web as well as upload your own images where necessary.
If you want to get really fancy, you can break your board down further into different categories. For example, if you’re trying to manifest money and manifest a relationship at the same time, you can have different sections for each one. (A huge plus for organizational freaks like me!)
Freeform
Freeform is a new(ish) app that’s included with iOS. If you have an Apple Macbook or iPhone, you probably already have Freeform installed on it.
Freeform is basically a digital pin board so you can see how perfect it is for creating a vision board.
To use it, just drag and drop your images directly into Freeform. Then feel free to play around with adding text, words of affirmation or whatever else you like.
Bonus: you can easily set up the app to connect across all your devices. Meaning that if you add something while on your phone one day, you’ll see the update back on your laptop as well. Yay technology!
Google Keep

ision boards are one of the most popular manifestation tools out there! But as you might already know, I’m not really big on having a physical one hanging somewhere in my home. So instead I’m sharing an easy-to-use digital version that you can add to and play around with. And no it’s not Pinterest! If you’re creative or into vision boards, I know you’re gonna love this tutorial.
Phone or Desktop Wallpaper
Another brilliant ideas for a digital vision board is to create your own phone or desktop wallpaper. This is cool because it absolutely guarantees that you will see you vision board on the daily.
A great tool for this is Canva! Simply select the kind of image you want to create, upload your desired images and drag’n’drop to your hearts content.
Then you can download the finished image in whatever format you like, which makes creating a digital vision board super easy.
Vision Board 2024 Ideas Step #4: Arrange Your Vision Board
Once you know which method you’re using, get to pinning!
Remember, you want to feel good and inspired when you look at the board. So you don’t have to just pin everything in a boring grid and call it a day. (Though if that’s what inspires you, go for it of course!)
Vision Board 2024 Ideas Step #5: Look At Your Vision Board Regularly
You’re not quite finished yet! Part of the magic of creating a vision board for manifestation is to make sure you see your board regularly.
If you created a phone or desktop wallpaper version, then you’ve got this part handled nicely already.
Even if you used Google Keep or Freeform, you can always take a screenshot and use it as your wallpaper as well.
If you created a paper vision board, put it somewhere you know you will see it.
Some people like it in the bedroom so they can see it first thing in the morning. Others prefer to place it on their fridge or perhaps even inside a closet or medicine cabinet door.
Of course, you can always full put it on display–even to go as far as putting it in a frame and hanging it over your sofa.
If you used a journal, then make it a part of your day to look at your journal. I know some people who love to look at their Pinterest vision boards over coffee!
Whatever feels right for you is great! Just be sure to make it a habit to check in regularly.
Vision Board 2024 Ideas Step #6: Do Your Other Manifestation Homework
Sure, you can try to manifest with a vision board alone. It does put your intention out into the world in a powerful way.
But I suggest you keep doing the inner work to make your manifestation a reality as well.
A basic manifestation plan looks like this:
- Noticing where your limiting beliefs, negative patterns, and low self-worth are as related to your manifestation goals.
- Doing some healing work on those (through journaling, tapping, etc.)
- Deciding on who you want to be (identity work) and creating NEW beliefs to support what you want
- Taking aligned action towards your dreams wherever you can
