5 Thoughts That Are Keeping You Broke: Get Unblocked To Manifest Money

Yes abundance really is just a state of mind!

But the bad news is: so is scarcity.

So the real question is: which one are you living in right now?

Scarcity thinking is unfortunately the default for so many of us! We tend to concentrate more on what we don’t have rather than shifting to what we do. And that has a huge impact on our bottom line–maybe even to the point of keeping you broke!

How does that work, you might be wondering? Well if your brain can only detect lack in the world around you that’s the only thing you’ll be aware of. You’ll develop literal blinders to abundance and in turn miss out on some very crucial opportunities that might actually be financially beneficial to you.

One crucial area that will reveal your abundance or scarcity mentality is in the language we use, whether that’s to describe ourselves or the world around us.



Make no mistake: you’re telling the world who you are with every single word you speak! Every word is vote for your own reality.


Every thought is a tiny micro-decision, one you may not even notice that you’re making at the time. But add up all those tiny micro-decisions over an hour, a day, a week and you’ll see how they come together to have a huge impact on your life!

Most of the time, you’re probably going so fast that you don’t even notice but make no mistake: your language is always a choice. It’s conscious. And it can be very telling about what you really think is possible for yourself and and your bank account.

The way you think about the world controls what shows up for you. How can it be any other way? If you’re not used to massive abundance, you’re going to have to start working your abundance meter up in order to successfully call it in.

5 Thoughts That Are Keeping You Broke: Get Unblocked To Manifest Money


Thought That’s Keeping You Broke #1:

“I can’t afford it”


Make no mistake: any word that comes after the word “I” holds a whole whack of power! You are creating your identity with these words; you are committing to what you’re putting out there. So when you say “I can’t afford it” you’re essentially aligning yourself to the very thing that you don’t want to be true!

So how can you communicate what you need to without committing to that undesirable outcome? There’s always another way to phrase things that allows you to get your point across without surrendering your own power. How about “I’m choosing to spend my money on something else”–which is probably accurate anyway? When you have limited funds, you do have to prioritize where you’re spending your money. It’s not that you don’t have any at all; you do but you need to watch where it goes and that’s fine. Remembering that power is a wonderful way to connect with your potential abundance instead of waving it away permanently.


Thought That’s Keeping You Broke #2:

“I’m always broke”


Think of it this way: your words are a vote that goes directly to the Universe itself! So you probably know what I’m going to say here! Do you want to always be broke? I’m guessing probably not. ????

Again, the words that directly follow an “I” statement have incredible power. When you’re stating, “I’m always broke” it’s just as if you’re putting in an order for broke-ness with the Universe itself! So the question is: does that seem like something you actually want for yourself? And if not, how could you choose some different words to express your point?

Hint: instead of concentrating on how you don’t have money now, why don’t you shift the focus to when you do? For example, “I can’t wait to buy that for myself someday”. Doesn’t that feel lighter in your body? Doesn’t placing a cosmic order for your future feel exciting? Those words of yours hold creation power! So always focus on what you really want to create!


Thought That’s Keeping You Broke #3:

“Rich people are greedy”


Warning: at first this thought might seem innocuous or even accurate! But the real problem here is the message that you’re sending yourself. Your beliefs about the world have an impact on what you can achieve for yourself.

You might not think that your thoughts about other people matter to your situation! But that’s totally untrue. This thought in particular becomes a problem when you’re trying to manifest money to you. That’s because while one part of you is trying (so hard!) to attract the money in the other part of your brain is freaking the ‘eff out! It doesn’t want to be either greedy or evil–so it’s going to take care of the problem by warding away the riches…forever.

Alignment is the true key to manifestation and that really means getting all your thoughts and beliefs on board with what you really want! (aka to attract more money!) So again, the question becomes: does this belief really serve you and your goals in life? If the answer is no, then it’s time to toss this one to the curb.


Thought That’s Keeping You Broke #4:

“I don’t want to work harder than I already do”


This was a big one for me and I know I’m not alone on this! That’s because we’ve been taught to believe (over and over) that hard work is how you make money. And at first this belief seems to make sense. But falls apart the minute you try to scale it. So if you’re already working hard and you want more money, your money goals might seem totally impossible. (I just can’t do more than I already am!

But the truth is hard work doesn’t have anything to do with getting paid well! (If that was true every school teacher would be rich!) Money and hard work actually have very little to do with each other. But there’s one thing that can earn you more money: value. When you offer the world at large more value, you have a very real reason to raise your prices or salary. (Whereas working more hours will just leave you exhausted!)

If you want to attract in more money, then you’ll have to get your thoughts clear about this subject! Otherwise you’re doomed to self-sabotage your money efforts.


Thought That’s Keeping You Broke #5:

“I have money blocks”


Okay, I know what I’m saying here! Yes, I agree that you probably do have money blocks (and that’s why you’re here). But it’s one thing to look for those blocks and work through them and it’s quite another to throw your hands up and give up on trying entirely!

I get it though: just thinking that you have money blocks can become a block in itself! But again, this is your brain just playing tricks on you. When you think “Oh my God I’m blocked around money! How am I going to get unblocked?” the problem seems much bigger and scarier than it really is. But when you focus on what each block actually is–aka just one simple sentence or belief that needs to shift–then you can get your control back.

Getting unblocked around money is something everyone can do! So don’t get freaked out by the process. Dive in and work through it all, thought by thought.

Does this sound familiar: you’re trying to manifest money for yourself. You set the intention and you start to do the inner work.

But it just seems like no matter what you do, the money doesn’t come in. Instead of attracting, you mostly seem to be repelling money.

It’s not that manifesting doesn’t work. (In fact, you’ve probably had some great experiences manifesting some other things!). So what’s actually going on?

This is one of the most common frustrations of manifestors.


When you really (really) want something, you also accidentally make it really hard to call in.



That’s because you end up putting way too much importance on it, which is just another sneaky way of giving your own power away.

So if this scenario sounds familiar, don’t panic and keep reading! I’ve got some brilliant advice for you today.

It’s always key to remember that money is really just energy in another form! It’s neither good nor evil. It just is. But all the stories and drama we create around money and finances mean we’ve made it much bigger and scarier than it needs to be.

If there’s one takeaway you get from reading this make it this: freaking out about money is not going to help you attract it! The more you try to hoard it or obsess about getting it, the more it will continue to elude you.

With manifesting, it’s never about forcing the world to change to your will. It’s about becoming magnetic to your desires to the point that you attract in the very thing you want.

Those two energies are very different so be honest with yourself about what your thoughts, feelings and actions are actually saying! The message we think we’re sending is quite often very different from the reality.

However, the good news is that is that because money is energy, you are in complete control of your own relationship with money!

That means you don’t have to beat your head into the ground “trying” to figure out how to make more of it or how to keep it or how to stack it. As Yoda says, there is no try! Your relationship with money is of your own making. So the real question is: what are you going to do differently from now on in order to attract it to you?

Repelling Money Action #1:

You’re Giving Money Too Much Power

Putting money on a pedestal is hands-down one of the biggest reasons money continues to elude you! But you’re truly the one writing your own money rules. The moment you decided money was too scary and important for you to handle was the exact moment you gave your money power away! But that also means you can start to rewrite that relationship any time you like.

So get this part straight: money isn’t better than you (like even remotely!). It’s energy just like you are. But the more you pretend like you’re not worthy of it or that you don’t understand it or that you can’t handle it, the more money will agree with you. So today’s a good time to stop! No matter what your money history has been remember that your future doesn’t have to look like that! It’s time to become money’s friend instead of pretending you’re not on its energetic level. (You totally are. Duh.)


Repelling Money Action #2:

You’re Stuck In Chase Mode

Just like love, money isn’t something you can chase down and force to happen. So it’s time to give up that approach entirely! Instead of running at it, it’s time to attract it! You always run the risk of chasing something off when you run directly at it. So what can you do to encourage money to come to you instead of the other way around?

So what can you do to become attractive to money? Hint: this just means loving your money, paying attention to your money, nurturing your money. If your money story largely revolves around fear, then I guarantee that love, attention and nurture aren’t words you use around money at all!


Repelling Money Action #3:

You’re Controlling The How

Having a rigid of idea of how money can show up for you is another likely culprit repelling money away from you. Our own expectations can sometimes be our biggest limitations! But why put extra limits on money when there’s no reason for it? Staying away from the how is an important part of maximizing your money energy potential.

So ask yourself: do you only think money can come through certain channels (like only through your paycheck)? In reality, there are many options that money can come through: unexpected windfalls, side hustles, forgotten checks, gifts, new careers etc. But if all your money energy is focused on suddenly (randomly!) getting a raise, then it might be time to expand your money horizons! Get creative (because the Universe definitely is!).


Repelling Money Action #4:

You’re Avoiding/Ignoring Money

One of the biggest pitfalls I see with manifestors is falling into the avoidance trap! In other words, if you’re actively ignoring your own money issues you’re probably also going to have problems manifesting! After all, it’s hard to get on the same vibration as something that you’re actively fearing.

Ignoring and avoiding your money issues are tempting. But trust me–no matter how bad or big you think your money problems are, you have the ability to conquer them! Right now you’re just letting your fears get the best of you.

But the truth is your fears are never nearly as big and terrible as your brain makes them out to be. The sooner you start taking action and facing your money fears head on, the sooner you’ll be moving past them for good!


Repelling Money Action #5:

You’re Not Being Grateful

Not being grateful for the money you do have is another repellent energy that might be keeping money well away from you. It can be challenging to summon gratitude when your bank balance is $5.62. But gratitude is the energy of flow and abundance (whereas fear belongs to scarcity and lack).

So I challenge you to flip your attitude on its head right now: no matter what your bank account says or how much you owe, say a big thank you for money. Put that number or idea in your hear and be truly grateful for it! Remember, this number is fleeting. Being grateful now will not tie you to this bank account balance forever! Indeed, it will actually change your vibrational energy and make you more receptive to receiving more. So try it right now and watch the money miracles happen!

5 Signs Of A Scarcity Mindset

My major theme here this year has been all about the importance of choosing abundance over scarcity.

Because scarcity is about much more than just the money (or lack thereof!) in your bank account. Scarcity is like putting blinders on, literally limiting what you notice in the world around you. That means you’re going to miss so many of the opportunities that are surrounding you every day! But it’s not that they’re not there. It’s that they’ve been filtered out of your reality!

I’ve come to realize that we’re in a scarcity epidemic! This is just the default way we look at the world unless we do some inner work and come back to the truth (which is love and wild abundance!).


Scarcity is the ultimate in defaulting into fear. But as we know, love is the only thing that’s real! Fear comes from lies always and giving into those lies isn’t doing you any favors.



But there’s also a bigger question here: now that you know how limiting and damaging scarcity thinking can be, how do you know if you’re doing it?

Today I’m sharing 5 common signs of a scarcity mindset so you can look for the red flags and come back to abundance fast!.


5 Signs Of A Scarcity Mindset


Signs Of A Scarcity Mindset #1:

Using Scarcity Language



Your words always bely your real thoughts and feelings! So whenever you find yourself saying things like: “I can’t do that”, “That will never happen for me”, “I can’t afford it” etc. you know you’re in the scarcity mindset trap.

Remember that you are always creating your world through your beliefs and words! Ask yourself if you really want any of those things you’re saying to be true! Because each one is a tiny but direct order to the Universe: I don’t want more money, opportunity or education. I’m just fine thanks.

But are you really fine? Try to move through your initial reactions and get curious. What would your world look like if you managed to move past even one of those negative statements? You really do have few limits in this life–but your biggest gatekeeper is you.


Signs Of A Scarcity Mindset #2:

Not Believing In Change



The number one ingredient for a magical life is an attitude of yes. Yes, I’ll accept more love, money, success, travel, adventure etc! Because if you start saying no to even the idea of more, you’ll never be able to achieve those things.

Possibility is the genesis of everything amazing. Leaving the door open for magic is just a way for magic to come find you! That means you really will miss out on the incredible opportunities being presented to you because you’ll be too busy denying that they exist.

Pessimism is really just a fast way to put limits on your potential! Because, don’t forget, your future does not have to look like your past! Thinking you can’t achieve certain things because you haven’t achieved them yet is just a way to keep yourself small.

Your future can look wildly different–but that involves you wholeheartedly believing in your own ability to change.


Signs Of A Scarcity Mindset #3:

Jealous/ Envy



The green-eyed monster is one of the most prominent scarcity mindsets out there! Being envious of others usually also means that we think someone else’s success (or money or love) is also taking away from our own. You can’t get happy for someone if you fundamentally believe that they’re in opposition to your own interests.

Of course, that’s a total fallacy! Someone else experiencing success, fame etc. has absolutely no bearing on you being able to do the same thing. Instead of seething with jealousy, what happens if you look at this experience as real-world proof that the same things are available to you?

Jealousy can be a tool that teaches us about our own desires! But if you transmute that dark feeling and turn it into gratitude and inspiration instead then your whole world will shift! Trust me, success will come to you much faster when you’re able to clap your hands and be genuinely happy for the others in your life! Like always attracts like after all, so be wary of what your emotions (and vibration) are really saying.


Signs Of A Scarcity Mindset #4:

Stinginess



Stinginess can be about a lot more than just money! But when we fear spending our money (or time or attention) it’s also indicative that we don’t think we’ll be able to get that money back again!

Money is an energy and it’s designed to be used in the world! Trying to hoard it is actually just a sign that you’re deep into fear and scarcity.

You don’t have to spend frivolously or say yes to every invitation that comes your way. But when you shift into abundance mentality, then you’ll automatically be generous with your time, money and words. If you’re not sure if this applies to you, just ask yourself if you’re being really generous in any particular situation. We are capable of so much grace, for ourselves and those around us! Start thinking about what your highest self would do and start choosing that instead of giving in to fear and small-mindedness.


Signs Of A Scarcity Mindset #5:

Overindulgence



Face it: almost always overindulgence is a sign of something darker beneath the surface. After all, overeating, drinking, taking drugs, gambling, shopping, sex etc. can all become addictions. They all provide an instant reward that temporarily fills up a deeper emotional problem.

When you feel emptiness inside of you, you’re much more easily tempted by these temporary external pursuits. So it’s important to understand that emptiness is the most painful version of scarcity of all!

When you live in abundance, you’re not so tempted by those temporary distractions. Your needs are already met! That doesn’t mean living like a monk but it does mean not getting carried away! So as hard as it can be, you must remember your truth: only you have the power to heal yourself and to free yourself from the trauma of your past. The answers are inside only always, not hiding behind the bourbon or chocolate ice cream.

5 Scarcity Beliefs You Need To Drop NOW!

Have you noticed that when you focus more on one thing it’s reverse aspect also comes into focus? That’s what it’s been like lately for me with abundance and scarcity. In fact, it’s only recently that I’ve realized just how prevalent scarcity thinking really is!

Fact: scarcity beliefs are the default setting for most of us–and that’s not good news!

When you’re constantly just trying to keep your head above water, you’re expelling a lot of energy on that one task. Plus when you’re that focused, you tend to get tunnel vision about the problem you’re solving, forgetting about the big picture entirely!

Let’s start by defining what scarcity is: it’s the perceived shortfall between what you have and what you need.


Scarcity-based thoughts are the ultimate in human suffering.



They’re also such a big mental trap that it takes more than just a mental note to “think positive” to overcome them!

You need to truly notice where you’re at and disregard the fear that you’re “supposed to” feel in order to create abundant flow instead.

No matter what you choose–abundance or scarcity–your brain will ultimately believe in what you tell it! That means if you choose to uphold this rigid way of looking at the world, you have no choice but to occupy a world that reflects exactly that.

But you can also choose the total opposite–if you want to!

Choosing to believe in things you actually want to be true is key to creating happiness.

And happiness is what we’re all after in the end!

Choosing abundance is more than a leap of faith. It’s a state of being–and one you might struggle with if you’re not even aware what the real problem is!

So today I wanted to expand on this idea so you can start to see just how often you might be falling into the scarcity thinking trap.


5 Scarcity Beliefs You Need To Drop Now


Scarcity Beliefs Type #1:

Money Scarcity



“I can’t afford that. I don’t have enough money. There’s never enough to go around. Money doesn’t grow on trees.”

Raise your hand if money scarcity is your default way of thinking! But don’t worry–this is me too! We’re all raised with the belief structures of the world around us. This type of scarcity thinking is usually passed on from one generation to the next. All those sayings about money are things you heard as a child–before you even had your own bank account to worry about.

A real-life example of money scarcity thinking is using a payday loan company. Those companies are notorious for their exorbitant pricing. Yet every single person who walks into one really does believe that they’ll only need the money “this one time”. Things are bound to shift in the future, right?

The only problem is that they rarely do. Instead of getting ahead by the next paycheck this financially-deadly cycle just keeps perpetrating itself–and gets worse and worse over time. It’s so easy for people who aren’t in this situation to see the fallacy in thinking here. But when you are faced with the real-life consequences of not being able to pay for something, then you tend to solve the immediate problem with no regard for the bigger picture.

Choosing abundance involves not falling prey to slick advertising and the fear of your ego mind. Maybe you’ll live on ramen for a month or default on a payment or take out a bank loan. Facing a money problem certainly isn’t unusual–and that also means it’s solvable! So try not to panic and make rash decisions. There is always a way out!


Scarcity Belief #2:

Relationship Scarcity



“There aren’t any good ones left. All men/women are evil. I’m too old/unattractive/etc.”

Almost every day I get messages from people with a scarcity mentality about love!The most common way this manifests by settling for relationships that aren’t really good for us. This only makes sense: if you really think “there aren’t any good ones left” you’re going to be much more willing to jump into a relationship that isn’t aligned to you than if you believe there are lots of wonderful people to date left in the world.

Want to see this belief in action? Just switch on The Bachelor! While in the real world, few people feel pressed to act crazy to earn the “love” of a potential suitor. But put people in a fierce competition and what do you get? Drama. Lots of it!

While drama is good for ratings, it’s not so good for us in the real world! Plus of course, the ultimate irony is that if you’re in a relationship with a lesser qualified candidate, you’re going to miss the opportunity to meet your Mr/Ms Right! Again, scarcity thinking will sacrifice your future happiness to fulfill your need to be partnered up right now.

Choosing to believe in abundance and holding space for someone who’s actually right for you might be tough now but it will actually pay off with what you want in the end.


Scarcity Thinking Type #3:

Food Scarcity



“I just can’t eat bread/chocolate/etc. I’ll get so fat if I eat that. I don’t want to break my diet.”

Fact: I don’t believe in diets and it’s for this very reason! Just as soon as I decide that I can’t have something, it’s basically all I can think about. Call it The Pink Elephant Syndrome for your stomach: as soon as I ask you to not think of a pink elephant, your brain automatically goes there right?

When it comes to diets, scarcity thinking is frequently the culprit behind following a diet perfectly for three weeks then binging on Ben and Jerry’s. Your attention is so focused on what you can’t have that you can’t help but over-glamorize everything about the food that’s forbidden. No one really needs to eat two tubs of ice cream and yet someone who’s deprived themselves for a long time will do exactly that. The brain has created this excessive desire out of its lack state and simply eating one chocolate chip cookie (or indulging in some other “normal” way) just isn’t going to do it.

I’m not a dietician obviously! But my personal belief around diets is that they seldom work for this reason. But the thing that does work may take longer and sound like a lot more work: gradually improving your eating and exercise habits over time.

Let’s face it: we choose the diet because we want the quick results! But we do that thinking we can return to what we’re currently doing, even though what we’re currently doing isn’t currently working. The only real cure is to develop a genuine excitement for a healthy lifestyle! Otherwise, you’re just setting yourself up for self-sabotage.


Scarcity Thinking Type #4:

Time Scarcity



“I’m always late. There’s not enough hours in the day. I don’t have time.”

Are you over-booked or constantly running (late) from appointment to appointment? Maybe you’re that (annoying!) friend who’s chronically twenty minutes late. Or maybe you just constantly underestimate your transportation time. All of these things are surefire signs of time scarcity.

An easy example would be someone who’s running late to an appointment. Instead of staying calm while driving there, they end up speeding–and inevitably get caught! In the end, getting ticketed (and having to pay for the ticket) takes up even more energy and time than just keeping calm and obeying the speed limits. It’s sacrificing your future for an attempt at an immediate payoff.

Nonetheless, we’ve all been there right? This example just goes to show how scarcity thinking can really control your actions without you even noticing!

The answer to time scarcity thinking is simply switch your way of thinking about it! My favorite way is to learn how to control time (which isn’t as crazy as it sounds!) No matter what you’ve been taught to believe, we can actually control time just like we can control the other elements in our life! Scarcity Thinking Type #5:

Physical Object Scarcity



“I might need that later. I’m going to fit into that again.

If you needed Marie Kondo, then you’re probably also a victim of physical object scarcity thinking! It’s simple human nature to become incredibly attached to the physical objects in our life. However, sometimes that attachment comes from a place of scarcity. When we think we have to hold onto things because we won’t be able to buy them again, we’re falling into a scarcity trap.

One common example is someone who keeps around their old skinny jeans as “motivation” to get fit and lose some weight. However, every time they see the jeans in their closet, they’re hit more by guilt and self-loathing rather than motivation. Plus the truth of the matter is that clothing styles change awfully quickly! Even if we did lose the weight, we probably wouldn’t be putting on our jeans from five years ago ever again.

Ultimately, holding onto things that don’t serve you usually means you don’t believe you’ll be able to buy them again! But how often is that true in our consumer-based society? Even if you get rid of something and have a sudden need for it three years later, almost everything you could possibly want can be delivered right to your door. When you remember your power as a consumer (and as a person who can figure out how to get more money!), then you can stop being so attached to the things you’ve already purchased!


The Cure



The quickest way to move from lack to abundance is always gratitude. Believing in the lies of scarcity is simply a result of focusing our attention on the wrong thing! This of course goes exactly against what your ego wants. But fear is always going to keep you feeling stuck and small. If you’re ready for something new, it’s time to choose abundance in every area of your life!




No matter what’s going on for you right now, it’s key to remember that you are ultimately in charge of your thoughts! The switch to an abundance mentality can be yours as long as you’re willing to put in the work.

It's a FACT of life: you're simply NOT going to fe It's a FACT of life: you're simply NOT going to feel good all the time.And that's okay!Not gonna lie: the last month or so has been rough for me.The darkness of winter + strict lockdowns/limited holiday celebrations were TOUGH.I've definitely had my moments of letting it all get to me.But that doesn't mean anything has gone wrong.It doesn't mean that I'm somehow failing.And it definitely does NOT mean I'm putting more space between me and my manifestation goals.Even with the BEST of intentions, life is 50/50. Expecting perfection at any time will ONLY set you up for disappointment.Feeling frustrated, down, exhausted: those are all normal feelings for anyone experiencing a pandemic (plus general winter blues/ political chaos etc.)So while I don't want to create MORE of those feelings, I'm also not going to judge myself for having them.Making your feelings WRONG does not speed you up back into feeling better. It only creates self-loathing and resistance.Are you feeling the same? Here are a few things that are helping me right now:- Just letting myself cry if I feel like it (Sometimes 10 minutes of a good cry is a sufficient release!)
- Concentrating on pandemic-lockdown friendly goals that I CAN achieve (Doing pilates every day, meditation + Manifestation Journaling)
- Taking a break from drinking (I only drank about once a week anyway! But why not try going without it for a month?)
- Doing more behind-the-scenes entrepreneur stuff (The kinds of things that are so easy to put off for "someday")
- Using my SAD lamp every morning! (I only just got it but I swear it's helping)
- NOT judging myself too harshly if I suddenly don't feel up to doing the work I had planned or posting as much I "should" (Being an entrepreneur brings an EXTRA level of potential self-judgment that's hard to get out of at times.)This is all just a great example of one of the most important lessons of LIFE.You don't get to choose all your circumstances. But you DO get to choose what you do WITH them.What are you choosing to create right now? Whether you're in lockdown or not, I'd love to hear it!
