How To Feel Good

Wondering how to feel good?

Since you’re here, I’m going to imagine that right now you don’t.

First off, don’t get too stressed by this. Just like anything else in life, feeling good doesn’t happen unless you put in the effort to get there.

You need to know what makes you feel good. And you need to actively work on feeling good!

Most people don’t put in any effort to feel good in their everyday life! They think it will just happen: when the sun is shining, when people are nice to them, when the world around them happens to be going their way.

But what if the opposite is true? What if the world around you only goes your way when you’re already feeling good?

Feeling always comes before having! That’s exactly what the Law of Attraction teaches us!

So if you’re a student of manifesting, it’s time to start switching your attitude towards feeling good from passive to active!

Feeling good is actually your Number 1 job in your life.

Everything else in your life will adjust when you’re already feeling good and you’ll naturally attract more and more feel-good experiences to you!

Besides, if you don’t know how to make yourself feel good, then no one else will be able to either!

Prioritizing feeling good is important: for your own wellbeing, for the sanity of the people around you, and even for the planet!

If you haven’t been prioritizing feeling good, then today’s as good a day to get started! Here are ten ways you can start to feel good today:

How To Feel Good

How To Feel Good Tip #1:

Take Care Of Your Body

You know exactly what I’m going to say here: Eat healthy food. Move your body. Get enough sleep.

Taking care of your body is really just the baseline of feeling good! It’s really difficult to feel good when you’re sleep deprived, eating junk food or you haven’t left the sofa for three weeks.

But don’t freak out about it! Being healthy doesn’t you don’t need to start training for marathons or become a raw vegan! Start with the basics: movement, healthy food, enough sleep. Then you can improve as you see fit from there. But just remember that your body is your vehicle for this life. It’s important to honor it!

How To Feel Good Tip #2:

Up The Self Care

Okay, now that we’ve got the basics covered, it’s time to figure out what feels good for you! Everyone’s best version of self-care is different; so it doesn’t really matter what you do to take care of yourself! It only matters that you do it.

So think about what kind of activities you like to recharge your batteries. Running? Netflix? Yoga class? Hot baths? An afternoon nap? There’s no judgment here! The more of those feel-good activities you can incorporate into your regular routine, the better you will feel overall!

Just don’t be tempted to become the type of person who self-punishes and refuses to indulge in those activities until you’ve “earned it”. You’ve already earned it! The very fact that you exist means you’re deserving. And if you need to feel altruistic about it, just remember that going through life feeling energetic and good will have an uplifting effect on everything around you!

How To Feel Good Tip #3:

Stop With The Comparisons

The endless social media feeds have made it all too easy to fall for the idea that everyone else’s reality is so much better than yours! But as the saying goes, don’t compare anyone’s highlight reel to your reality! Pictures and carefully composed status updates never reveal the truth about someone’s situation!

But comparison-itis goes far beyond social media. We can all get stuck in the trap of thinking that someone who is younger/prettier/went to a better school has it so much easier than we do! But comparing yourself to other people is completely POINTLESS! We all have a unique journey and we’re all blossoming and growing in our own time. And once again, you’ll never really know anyone else’s full story. So why make that assumption? Besides the more energy you put into analyzing other people, the less energy you’ll have left to work on making your own life more awesome.

How To Feel Good Tip #4:

Stop Putting Conditions On Your Happiness

Many of the barriers to happiness come from our own mind! Don’t believe me? Well here’s a few examples to show you how this works:

Once I get that raise, I’ll be happy.
Once I get married, I’ll be able to be myself.
Once I find the apartment of my dreams, I’ll be satisfied.

The only problem? Those are all bullshit excuses! You ALWAYS have the choice to be happy, right here, right now. To think that a raise, husband or apartment will make you happy is ludicrous! Of course, it’s fine to want those things for yourself and pursue them. But don’t make the mistake of thinking you can’t really be happy until you get there! If you do, you’re just setting yourself up to feel incomplete and unhappy…forever.

Again, all the things you want will be attracted to you by your own happiness! Telling yourself you can’t be happy until you reach them is just sentencing yourself to live in unhappy limbo…forever.

How To Feel Good Tip #5:

Don’t Hinge Your Happiness On Others

This is another common mindset trap that actively PREVENTS you from being truly happy! It’s critical to realize that your happiness is not the result of anyone else in your life.

So many people have thoughts like this “I’d be happy if only my boyfriend would do the dishes every night” or “I would feel happy if she just told me she loved me more often!”

This is another fast train to Unhappy Town! Of course, you have the right to request certain tasks from your partners. But it’s important to realize that they may never follow your requests! So what happens then? If you believe you’ll only be happy if they do X,Y and Z, then you’re the one throwing away your own right to happiness!

Happiness A Choice

Happiness is a choice and you always have the option to be happy, regardless of how the people around you are behaving, regardless of whether someone loves you or not, regardless of whether someone’s following your requests or not. So don’t be tempted to use your happiness as a way to manipulate people into doing what you want them to! That’s the perfect recipe for disaster for everyone involved.

How To Feel Good Tip #6:

Stay in Gratitude

Every day you have a choice: to be happy about all the wonderful things in your life. Or to be unhappy and focus on all the things you don’t yet have! But you cannot be in lack and be grateful at the same time! So which one are you going to choose?

Remember, you’re creating your life from what you’re paying attention to. What you focus on always expands! So you can choose what expands in your life by choosing what to concentrate on. Once you realize your own power in this situation, the choice becomes obvious!

How To Feel Good Tip #7:

Get Adventurous

Routines are good for saving time and keeping us on track–but they can also be incredibly boring. Taking yourself on what I like to call “tiny adventures” is a good way to trick yourself back into a state of wonderment and awe. The world really can surprise you at every corner–if you let it!

But it might be difficult to see that when you walk the exact same route day in and day out. So switch things up! Take a different route to work. Eat at a different restaurant. Skip your normal Friday night outing with the gang and hang out with someone totally new. Getting out of your everyday routine even just a little bit unlocks your innate childlike sense of fun and adventure…and results in more happiness.

How To Feel Good Tip #8:

Present Yourself Well

This is a big one for me personally! As an online entrepreneur, it can be easy to fool yourself into thinking that wearing day pajamas for days on end is a good thing!

But the clothes you wear and the face you present to the world, always has an effect on how you feel about yourself! (Even if you never actually leave the house!) Make the effort to get dressed up nicely just because it feels good. It’s hard to feel great about yourself when you’re wearing a dirty sweatshirt and haven’t washed your hair in three days!

You don’t have to go full-Kardashian but a little care and attention goes a long way. You’re worth putting in the effort! It’s time to really show it.

Feel Good Tip #9:

Take Care Of Your Home

I’m a huuuuge believer in the power of home care! Just like your wardrobe, the space you occupy has a huge effect on the way you feel about yourself! Even if you’ve convinced yourself that it doesn’t really matter, all the clutter and chaos in your home has an effect on your mindset!

Your home is just one big feedback loop. When you’re living with “make do” furniture and piles of stuff to be sorted, you’re subconsciously telling yourself that you’re not really deserving of nice things! And that’s just untrue. You are worth more so much more than a space that’s cluttered and messy!

How To Feel Good Tip #10:

Learn How To Say No

Another big component of feeling good is learning how to say no to the things that don’t feel good! You don’t have to say yes to any social commitments that don’t serve you, even if you’ve always done them in the past or whether it’s an old friend or relative doing the asking.

You have the right to grow and change interests! And sometimes that means saying goodbye to old social rituals. Are you really getting anything out of sitting on the same bar stool, week in and week out? If you are, great!. But if you’re not, it’s time to get real with yourself! If you feel coerced or obligated, then you’re not going to be happy doing it.

Of course this issue isn’t always black and white! Every once in a while we all have to do something we don’t really want to (like family obligations or birthdays etc.). But the rest of the time, you need to honor yourself! Learning how to say no is one of the most valuable tools you can have if you want to feel good.

I hope this post helps to illustrate just how low on the priority scale feeling good is for most of us! But as of today, that no longer applies to you. Feeling good isn’t hard but it does take your active attention. It’s time to start making it a habit in your own life!

Good luck and thank you so much for reading!
