little bit strange and maybe you think this video doesn’t apply to you so first before we get into it i wanted to talk a bit about my definition of trauma so if you are a member of recode you are already familiar with this but basically i believe that we have all experienced some traumatic events during our childhood that have created some sort of protection mechanisms or blocks in our life usually they are really evident in the areas where we feel the most stuck which is how this comes to tie in with manifestation so maybe you have a block around romantic relationships or about money or about both the reason why you are finding it so difficult to move past these things is because you are stuck in this programmed state of reaction and you don’t even realize it and this is where the trans state comes in and that’s what i wanted to talk about today so basically i want you to think about you know the classical definition of trauma we tend to think trauma is only about the big scary really bad things that happened in life and of course it does obviously apply to those things however that same brain mechanism that can come into play in your post-traumatic stress disorder can also be applied in sort of a lower level way in other areas of your life so the way i define a trauma is basically especially during your childhood it’s any time that you did not get your needs met so when you’re a child that leaves an awful lot of room for that to happen because of course we are all being raised by imperfect parents that don’t get it right all of the time this isn’t to say that every single time something went quote unquote wrong that you are going to be traumatized but these moments are potential spots that might have created trauma problem that happens as an adult is most people brush that stuff off i think oh i was just you know a needy five-year-old and i shouldn’t have been so upset about that thing but you can’t go back and like logic your way out of that if you had one of these kind of core wound experiences especially at a young age and you never really did the healing work on it that thing didn’t go away that is still part of you and that is why i’m so keen to talk about this it’s not that i want to go out there and tell everybody that they’re broken and that they need to be fixed i actually don’t think anybody is broken but i do think that we can get in our own way when we are so completely unaware of how these situations are still impacting us so one thing to know before we get started is that trauma is a spectrum something that you know is really bad it might have happened to you and you had a really bad experience with it same thing might have happened to someone else and maybe it didn’t bother them at all it is really useless for us to compare our experience to anyone else even our siblings your unique experience and the unique feelings that you had as a child are completely valid trying again to talk yourself out of them or telling yourself that they weren’t that important is not how you’re going to heal and get beyond them that is a really good way to stay stuck and continue to be ruled over by them so if you’ve never encountered this idea before i just wanted to open your brain open your mind so that to get you to start to think about you know the kinds of experiences you had as a child that might have taught you that you are unlovable or that you were too needy and you shouldn’t ask for things or any number of other things that you might have picked up these things are not as far away as we think most of us are carrying around these ideas these beliefs these actions like a big heavy weighted vest that is holding us back from what we want and we don’t even realize it the reason we don’t realize it is what i wanted to speak about today and that is because of the trance state so basically what happens when you were a child and you had some sort of traumatic experience maybe your parents was really brash to you on the playground and told you to be quiet and you got really upset let’s just step away from like talking about what actually happened in that moment and just talk about the beliefs or talk about the patterns that might have come from that so one pattern that might have come from that is that you should just keep everything inside that your pain or your needs aren’t worthy of being vocalized so maybe you’ve now taken that in to your adult relationships and maybe you are having an issue with your partner maybe your partner thinks you don’t communicate enough especially when you’re upset and that all stems back to that incident on the playground where you were upset about something and you were told to shut up what is happening in that moment is that that thing that happened to you when you were a child was painful and you know i’m not blaming your parent here like parents make mistakes and they’re not perfect all the time but what is happening is that in that moment your brain your soul your spiritual side your emotional side was in a lot of pain so it develops a protection mechanism to prevent that from happening again it is now going to tell you that when you’re having an emotional experience you should keep it to yourself you should not vocalize it to anybody because you don’t want them to tell you to shut up so this happened to you a long time ago in the past but you are still doing this in your present day life thing is you are basically operating on a trance state that thing got programmed into you when you were a child in a hypnotic state because you are in a permanent hypnotic state when you’re a child and when you’re reacting as an adult who won’t speak their feelings out loud you are going right back to that state problem is that when you’re in that trance state you are not conscious so cue your partner getting upset with you and you have no idea why you don’t really see the issue you have no idea why this thing could even be a problem the trans state is preventing you from seeing what is actually happening it’s preventing you from seeing this wound that you’re carrying with you and this protection mechanism is so deeply ingrained you can’t even see your way out of it it’s like the lizard part of your brain reacting to protect you to keep you safe and you are not even consciously aware of that we have trance states all the time and it’s actually very interesting to start to become aware of when you have your trance states when you have that gut reaction when you start to do things that you don’t really understand why you did them you just did them without really thinking about it those might be places for you to start to think about where did this action come from is this a protection mechanism when did i first have this experience again as an adult we like to think that we are so far beyond our childhood but what i have learned through a lot of spiritual work and growth personal growth is that our childhood is not actually that far behind us and most of us are carrying around some of the most painful pieces with us this is just the way the human brain works human brain is designed to figure out how to protect itself unfortunately the things that it’s protecting us from can turn into our manifestation blocks so to go to the example i was speaking about with the current relationship where someone is being pushed away because they don’t want to speak about their feelings maybe that person is really trying to manifest an amazing loving relationship and they are completely blind to the fact that them not being able to be authentic and to speak their truth and to be open with their partner is actually what’s blocking them now you can kind of see how trauma and trance states are linked and how we can be blind to our trance states and how those trans states are actually part of our manifestation block the good news is you are capable of noticing reprogramming and healing this stuff you do not have to let that childhood moment be with you forever there are very simple ways we can go in and start to do reprogramming work on that and this is why i have a lot of hypnosis inside recode manifestation academy that is going to help you to do that beyond that if you don’t want to get into hypnosis and if you’re not really sure what to do another way of taking action is to just really notice when you’re stepping into those trans automatic reactions the things that you’ve always done all the time and just start to do the opposite thing so when you’re getting that urge to shut down and to pull back force yourself to speak what’s on your mind to tell somebody what they think even if it feels massively uncomfortable the more that you practice going out on a limb and showing yourself that you can a do the thing that your brain is so afraid of and b that it is not going to hurt you the way you think it is you’re going to start to build up a new basically mental muscle structure around that scenario you’re going to show yourself proof that there’s another way to do life and it is going to be so much easier in the future the more you do it the easier it gets etcetera etcetera etcetera but the whole process begins with awareness and again if you’re in a chat state it’s really hard to be aware of these problems so i’m making this video today as a way to inspire you to start to look at some of your own trance states some of your programmed reactions and to start to challenge you to think about how you can move past them heal them reprogram them there’s always a way forward and you do not have to let your past rule over you as the conscious creator adult that you are today again if you want to learn more how to do that i take you through this
