Choose Your Words To Change Your Life

If you’ve been studying the Law of Attraction for any length of time, you’re likely already aware of just how important your vibration is to the overall process.

That’s because the level you vibrate at determines what you attract into your life.

And, for the most part, your emotions are what determines your vibration.

You can say all the affirmations you like but if your heart doesn’t eventually line up with what you’re saying, they simply won’t work.

However, changing your frequency involves much more than simply reciting affirmations.

It’s actually about what’s going on behind the scenes.

(Note: I love affirmations and use them regularly just to be clear!)

Your overall language plays an important role in the way your emotions are created.

Think about it.

Spoken words are literal vibrations that we create with our bodies.

But even if we don’t speak them aloud, our words always carry a unique energy signature.

We think the words we use are mere descriptions but the stronger the word we use, the more power it holds.

That’s why the words we use to describe the world around us have a HUGE impact on our internal reactions.

The words we choose literally shape our feelings.

And that’s the real trick: a simple language swap has the power to control our emotional state.

For example, replacing a high-level high-intensity word with something less intense is the difference between overreacting and just becoming slightly upset.

Words contain emotion! So if we choose the right words, we can start to program our own feelings!

It’s a simple yet powerful concept!

But the bottom line is that if you want to start feeling differently, it’s time to start using new words to describe your world.

This all might sound strange at first. I mean, words are just words right? And why would you unnecessarily create any extra stress, sadness or anger for yourself?

It all makes a lot more sense when you realize just how much of the language we use regularly is not even our own!

The common catch phrases that we all tend to use mindlessly are positively brimming with violent imagery.

And those violent associations also trigger the pain centers in our brain.

Nowhere is this more evident than when we talk about love.

Broken hearted. Crushed. Ripped apart.

What if instead of “broken hearted” you said “disappointed”, “misunderstood” or “lonely”?

Words CREATE an extra emotional impact.

If you keep telling yourself that you’re broken, guess what? You’re going to start feeling broken!

And chances are, that in one way or another, you ARE using those words without even thinking about it!

So if you want to lessen the pain or the anger or the hurt, why not reframe things with a phrase that’s not so intense?

You’re still upset, hurt, sad.

But you don’t have to feel BROKEN, dead, crushed.

Those words take your inherent sadness and AMPLIFY it to the nth degree.

When your emotions are running wild and you feel out of control with a situation in your life, there’s often not much you can do but change your reaction to it.

And if you’ve ever tried to make yourself “just cheer up” or “look on the bright side” in the middle of a depressive episode you’ll know how difficult that can be.

So don’t try changing the huge EMOTION that you’re grappling with.

Start by changing the LANGUAGE.

Choose your words to change your life!

Don’t use high-impact high-emotion words to describe your situation!


Don’t rely on tired old catchphrases to convey what you’re going through.

You can talk about the heaviness in your gut, the ache in your heart, the tiredness you feel, any of the very real physical or emotional experiences you’re having.

But you don’t OVER describe.

That’s just adding fuel to the fire! And it will keep you feeling shitty and low for a lot longer than is necessary.

Because OF COURSE if you keep saying to yourself “My life is over” your body is going to start reacting like it actually IS over.

Words are INCREDIBLY magical tools for our growth.

They have power to lessen or multiply the world we observe.

And the coolest thing to know is that they are ALWAYS your choice.

So don’t bother getting upset about all the things you cannot change in your life.

Start with the ONE thing you CAN.

Start slowly. Notice when it happens. Keep backtracking and reframing those old overly dramatic descriptive phrases.

Limit yourself to be factual.

Take the harsh sting out of the facts and lower the emotional impact.

The situation might not be fun or pretty. But describing it with HUGELY emotional words is tipping you into crisis territory.

What if you broke up and….everything was fine?

What if you were upset but not broken?

What if you were bruised but not battered?

You don’t have to go to the bottom of the emotional pool.

You can keep your head above water.

You can acknowledge what’s going on without scaring your body into panic mode.

You can begin to assess the “damage” without hitting an emotional rock bottom.

You can experience life without the incredible lows. You can lessen the impact AND feel much more in control of your own life.

All of that is possible with just a simple change in vocabulary!

Of course, actually training yourself to be more factual in your language is a long process.

It takes time to break those old habits and retrain your brain to be on your team!

Remember that our brains are inherently lazy creatures. They actually LIKE to save time by thinking the same thoughts over and over again. Which means thinking new thoughts takes conscious effort and attention.

So be easy on yourself as you retrain yourself to think differently. It might take some time and effort but the results will be soooo worth it.




Never forget that the vocabulary you choose in your mind and in your speech is crucial to the way your life plays out! Think of this as your biggest opportunity to PROGRAM your life for success. Start swapping out the old heavy negative words for something brighter and happier to watch your world transform.

How To Change Your Frequency

Feeling like you need a jump start lately?

It might just be time to change your frequency.

Humans, like everything else in the world, are made up energy. We all vibrate at our own frequency. We’re all giving and receiving energy at every moment of the day.

We’re simply not taught to act like the vibrational beings that we are. But learning how to manage your vibration is one of the most powerful gifts you can give yourself.

Because unlike many things in life, you’re always in control of your own energy.

As I’ve mentioned in the past, manifestation isn’t something you need to believe in. You’re already making things around you happen.

The only real question is whether or not you’re happy with the way things are.

You can get as upset as you like about the way the external world is treating you, about how things aren’t working for you, about how unfair or frustrating thing are. Just know that getting upset never actually changes anything.



But one thing you can always change is your frequency.


It all begins on the inside.

Your vibration is your signal to the world. It’s responsible for what shows up around you.

And you’re always in control of what you’re putting out there.

We all want to feel happier and more at peace. But often the tiny actions that we choose in life lead us further away from these goals, without our even realizing it.

It’s both easy and complicated to chose actions that are more in alignment with what we truly want.

Small shifts = big change

(As I like to say. πŸ™‚ )

So if you’re now wondering how exactly to change your frequency, I’ve got a few suggestions for you. Keep in mind that this is far from an exhaustive list but it should take you a long way towards a happier new vibration.

How To Change Your Frequency Method #1:

Pick Happy Thoughts



Events are neutral. It’s our reactions to events that create problems. The world is only as harsh and unloving as we allow it to be. If something negative happened to you in the past it can be really difficult o move beyond it. We all have those downward negativity spirals where you find yourself unnecessarily freaking out about something. (Sometimes even things that happened months or years ago!) Our brains are natural creatures of habit. Why create new neural connections when there are all these crappy old ones here just sitting around waiting to be used again? That’s why its so easy to fall back into those tired old patterns.

As soon as you notice that you’re blazing down the negativity highway, it’s time to put a stop to things. Try to opt for the thoughts that feel good. Is the world really as black and white as your brain would like you to believe? The answer 90% of the time is no.


How To Change Your Frequency Method #2:

Stay Mindful



The trick of truly changing your frequency is staying in your new, improved vibratory state. Which means it’s not great to fall back into your same old habits. To keep yourself feeling up, it’s imperative to develop an awareness of your mood throughout the day. Just take a quick second to evaluate how you’re feeling mentally and physically and keep aware of anything that might be dragging you down.

If little things continually set you off, it’s probably a sign of something larger below the surface. It might be time to dive in and find that bigger issue. Most of our so-called problems can be fixed with an attitude adjustment towards external events. (It’s unlikely that someone cut you off in traffic deliberately! It’s much more likely they just became distracted for a moment.)


How To Change Your Frequency Method #3:

Limit Caffeine



Caffeine might give you that lovely wake-up jolt in the morning but it sometimes comes with a downside. Soon after our heart rate spikes, so does our rate of aggression. If you find yourself regularly freaking out in your morning commute, ask yourself whether that’s truly your reaction or if it can be traced in part to that grande latte you just inhaled. If that temporary jolt isn’t worth the trade off, then try weaning yourself back onto lighter, less mood-altering options.


How To Change Your Frequency Method #4:

Watch Your Media Consumption



Look – no one’s perfect! I slip into junk food television from time to time. But I also have to admit that perhaps watching the Real Housewives dig up reasons to be angry with each other is not the best for my vibration.

A lot of what we take in (music, movies, the news etc.) leaves us feeling less than ideal. Anything you take in can result in making you feel aggressive or angry. If that’s the case for you, the first step is to become aware of the issue. Is the entertainment factor worth it? If it’s not, then it’s probably time to think of less mood-altering versions.


How To Change Your Frequency Method #5:

Cultivate Gratitude



We all have the tendency to focus on what we don’t have instead of on what we do. Take a look around you and try to see all the things you’ve already brought into your life. (There are loads of them!)

But there’s always something we can find to be grateful for. Even if you think you’re at the bottom of life, express gratitude for your hot morning shower, your clean drinking water and your comfortable bed.


How To Change Your Frequency Method #6:

Meditate



Sitting quietly with yourself is one of the most difficult yet rewarding practices you can develop. So much of what we seek out to entertain us is actually being used to numb us from our internal world. Meditation brings you in line with yourself. And if the thought of it freaks you out, you probably need it the most!

You don’t need to do something hardcore like become a Buddhist or join a Vipassana retreat. You reap benefits from as little as five minutes of meditation a day. Think of it a mental reset button! And if you’re not already, try to incorporate it into your regular routine.


How To Change Your Frequency Method #7:

Tune In



Music already is vibration so it only makes sense that it can have a huge effect on our state of mind. And listening to vibrationally “high” music is an easy way to hack yourself into a different mindset. There are tons of videos of tones on YouTube. Search for 528Hz, 432Hz or 7.83Hz and listen to a few to see which ones you like best.


How To Change Your Frequency Method #8:

Visualize The Future



Not to be confused with meditation, visualization is a mental practice that inserts you into a new reality. The more alive and vivid you can make your dreams for the future the faster you’ll be able to achieve them. So pick something that you’re working towards, set a timer for 10-20 minutes and use that time to deeply envision what you want. Put yourself in that vision. What do you see, feel, taste, smell? And how do you feel? Walk through your vision with as much detail as you can. (Don’t fret if this seems difficult at first! It gets easier the more you practice it.)

Radically Change Your Landscape.



Ever wonder why traveling has such a profound energizing effect? That’s because it takes you well outside of your norm. When you’re faced with different landscapes, food and people you’re forced to encounter yourself in a new way. You stop relying you your old behavior patterns and you loosen up enough to try out some new ones. But that also means that feeling doesn’t have to be limited to actual vacation time. Getting outside of your bubble is always a great way to change your energetic mood. Try redecorating your bedroom, checking out in new cafes or try making friends with a new group of people.

Suffering From A Low Vibration? 10 Ways To Raise Your Vibe

February can be such a brutal month! Although it’s short, it’s also dark and cold. We’re all more than ready for spring but it still seems far away. Basically, if there was ever a time that your winter blahs to kick in, it’s right about now.

While less severe than chronic issues like depression, battling a seasonal low is still tough. It’s a cycle that’s difficult to get out of: you feel down, so you stay at home, then you feel worse and on it goes.

Basically, once your vibe starts a downward trajectory, it becomes increasingly difficult to raise it! And that’s why marathon Netflix sessions suddenly seem preferable to pretty much everything else.

Sound familiar?

Low vibrations can manifest many types of symptoms but here are ten common ones:

  • feeling like you’re in a funk
  • moodiness
  • low energy levels (or sleeping a lot)
  • chronic illness (or constantly catching every cold that comes along)
  • insomnia
  • feeling the need to escape via drinking, drugs, TV etc.
  • frequent accidents
  • feeling needy
  • feeling stuck
  • multiple strained relationships simultaneously

Right? Doesn’t that all sound oh so February-esque? But not all hope is lost until the spring.

Stopping and resetting the energy just requires a targeted approach. And there are some smart and specific actions you can take to turn it all around.

How To Raise Your Vibe Step #1:

1. Go Healthy



The things we choose to fuel ourselves with make a massive difference to how we feel, both energetically and physically. Whole natural foods will always raise your vibration much more than junk food or fast food ever could. But you don’t have to go vegan or go on a cleanse to benefit from clean eating. Just make the effort try to opt for healthy food choices as often as you can. It’s an overall healthier way to eat anyway; but you’ll also feel more balanced and in-tune with yourself as a result.


How To Raise Your Vibe Step #2:

Get Moving



If you’ve found yourself hunched over your desk for days on end and you’re feeling rundown, it’s time to get up and literally shake that stuff right out. Bodies hold tension and negative energy, especially when they’re stagnant. So if you’re in a funk, one of the first things to do is go for a run or walk to get that energy going. Take a yoga class, go out dancing or just do some gentle stretches at your desk. It’ll shift your vibe almost immediately.


How To Raise Your Vibe Step #3:

Pump Up The Music



Music is pure vibration so of course it has a huge effect on how we feel. (My personal pet theory for why dance floors facilitate bonding experiences is because they put everyone on the same literal vibration. We feel more intune with those around us because we actually are.) Pick your music wisely. I like to throw on some Tibetan singing bowl recordings or chanting when I really need a vibrational hit. The music that you love always has an uplifting effect so crank it and feel those vibes lifting.


How To Raise Your Vibe Step #4:

Go Natural


Just like the food we put in our bodies, the things we put on our bodies also have an effect on our vibration levels. If you’ve been feeling down, try switching your body products over to something natural to see what a difference it makes. (I swear by coconut oil as a body moisturizer and I use argan oil in my hair.) It might not be possible to switch out everything but do what you can. Give yourself a week or two with your new routine to really see the effects.

Laugh


A deep belly laugh is a truly beautiful thing! It announces our unadulterated appreciation for the moment at hand. It’s difficult to fake! Plus the very sound of laughter is a great thing to listen to!

Of course, when you’re feeling down the trick is how to acquire this precious laughter – and that’s a personal thing. I know that any time I’m hanging with good friends I’ll probably be howling at one point or another! But if hanging with friends isn’t an option, you can also get your laughter from a good TV show or cat videos on YouTube. Either way, when that urge to laugh comes let it out in full! Never ever try to damp down such a wonderful gift!


How To Raise Your Vibe Step #6:

Sing


Singing is another vibration that we can create in our own bodies. So an at-home karaoke session – the kind where you really let loose – is a brilliant way to raise your vibration. Singing is a naturally happy thing; there’s something in our nature that compels us to do it.

I’m not alone in my thinking here! Brian Eno is a huge fan of singing in a group setting. He suggests the practice correlates with “a good figure, a stable temperament, increased intelligence, new friends, super self-confidence, heightened sexual attractiveness and a better sense of humor.”

So um yeah, sold.


How To Raise Your Vibe Step #7:

Dive In


Water, being another natural element, is infused with a naturally high vibration – which is why you always feel better after taking a shower! If you’re feeling low or down, treat yourself to a long bath (or shower) just because. Go the extra mile by making it a luxurious event with bath salts or bubbles. Swimming in a lake or ocean is also effective!


How To Raise Your Vibe Step 8:

Seek Nature


Going for a walk in a park or for a hike is a wonderful way to reset your vibration. (I personally like the double whammy of movement plus nature!) But of course you can also just plonk yourself down next to a tree for a while to get the same effect.

If you go this route, be sure to keep off of your phone while you’re at it! Attention is the key here. Take the time to really notice the foliage around you. Let yourself connect with it.


How To Raise Your Vibe Step #9:

Journal



Writing down your thoughts with no objective is one of the most centering and therapeutic exercises you can do. Want to get in touch with your real self? Spend fifteen minutes unloading the scattered contents of your head onto paper.

Journalling enables a physical release of the contents of our manic monkey brain. Besides allowing us to focus wholly on ourself, it can also help us through mental processes and work through whatever problems we happen to be going through in our life.


How To Raise Your Vibe Step #10:

Meditate



You were waiting for this one, right? Of course, sitting down and clearing our thoughts is one of the most high-vibe practices we could cultivate. I’m talking about it as much for myself as for any of you because meditation is an ongoing battle. It’s so easy to get out of the habit (or to put off beginning your practice).

Meditation is not about perfection; it’s a process. And raises your vibe fast.

So if you’re feeling stuck, unhappy or stressed, now is the best possible time to get your meditation on.

It's a FACT of life: you're simply NOT going to fe It's a FACT of life: you're simply NOT going to feel good all the time.And that's okay!Not gonna lie: the last month or so has been rough for me.The darkness of winter + strict lockdowns/limited holiday celebrations were TOUGH.I've definitely had my moments of letting it all get to me.But that doesn't mean anything has gone wrong.It doesn't mean that I'm somehow failing.And it definitely does NOT mean I'm putting more space between me and my manifestation goals.Even with the BEST of intentions, life is 50/50. Expecting perfection at any time will ONLY set you up for disappointment.Feeling frustrated, down, exhausted: those are all normal feelings for anyone experiencing a pandemic (plus general winter blues/ political chaos etc.)So while I don't want to create MORE of those feelings, I'm also not going to judge myself for having them.Making your feelings WRONG does not speed you up back into feeling better. It only creates self-loathing and resistance.Are you feeling the same? Here are a few things that are helping me right now:- Just letting myself cry if I feel like it (Sometimes 10 minutes of a good cry is a sufficient release!)
- Concentrating on pandemic-lockdown friendly goals that I CAN achieve (Doing pilates every day, meditation + Manifestation Journaling)
- Taking a break from drinking (I only drank about once a week anyway! But why not try going without it for a month?)
- Doing more behind-the-scenes entrepreneur stuff (The kinds of things that are so easy to put off for "someday")
- Using my SAD lamp every morning! (I only just got it but I swear it's helping)
- NOT judging myself too harshly if I suddenly don't feel up to doing the work I had planned or posting as much I "should" (Being an entrepreneur brings an EXTRA level of potential self-judgment that's hard to get out of at times.)This is all just a great example of one of the most important lessons of LIFE.You don't get to choose all your circumstances. But you DO get to choose what you do WITH them.What are you choosing to create right now? Whether you're in lockdown or not, I'd love to hear it!
