Manifest Your Desires With Identity Shifting: 3 Techniques

When it comes to the art of manifestation, we all want some big shiny things:

    • The nice car
      The sexy partner
      The cool job/money in the bank/ etc.
  • But as you might have noticed, that while most people can manifest small things quite easily, manifesting the big stuff isn’t always so simple. (Ack! How annoying!)

    Last week we discovered why good intentions are not enough! In that post, you discovered the subconscious blocks that are holding you back.

    But there’s another part of your subconscious mind that has an even bigger part to play in your manifestation results:


    Your identity.




    We all have some firm and well-worn ideas about who we think we are! Identity is a key part of human development. We learn how to differentiate ourselves from the world around us but learning what makes us different. Many of those discoveries end up becoming a core part of our identity.

    The only problem? Most of those ideas came from when we were seven years old or less! As I asked you last week, think back to when you were seven and compare that to where you are right now. Now, you’ve done a whole lot with your life since then. But your brain is still holding onto those ideas that came from that era in your life–and some of those ideas are very much getting in your way right now.

    These things can be limiting beliefs but they can also become core pieces of your identity.

    For example, if you grew up watching your parents fight and argue about money, they undoubtedly taught you a few lessons about money. Or maybe you heard them say that rich people are evil and greedy etc.

    Now fast forward to where you are now in life. Maybe you’re trying to manifest more money and create the abundance in your life that you’ve always dreamed of. But for some reason, all those juicy money goals continue to elude you.

    Even though way back then you simply heard those ideas about money, some of them trickled down and became part of the way you view yourself! After all, our parents are our biggest role models. We literally model ourselves after them and we’re subconsciously programmed by their beliefs and fears.

    But if you fundamentally believe that there are just “poor” people and “rich” people (and therefore that you can’t become rich) obviously that’s going to have an affect on your current ability to make money. If you subconsciously believe there’s no possible way to get from A to B, then of course you’re not going to try very hard.

    That’s just one example but I’m sure that you can relate to it! Maybe it’s not money that you’re struggling with. Maybe it’s love or success or something else entirely. But the principles remain the same:


    You attract who you are.



    So the question now becomes: who are you?

    For that, I want you to take a good honest look at your life and understand the part you have played in it. We have tolerated certain events and circumstances to the point that these things–even if we don’t like them!–have become our new normal.

    The bottom line is that if you’re ready to finally drop your old stories and patterns in order to manifest your desires, you’re also going to have to drop your old identity!

    But since identity is a multi-faceted topic, today I thought I would share three aspects of your identity that you can work on shifting right now.


    Manifest Your Desires With Identity Shifting: 3 Techniques


    Identity Shifting Technique #1:

    Your Invisible Set Point


    As crazy as it seems, we all have an invisible set point for life. We have our minimum standards but we also have a maximum standard.

    One example where this is quite obvious is in your romantic life. We all have dating minimum standards and I bet we can all think of a friend who’s minimum is far below ours! However, we all do the same thing with money, career success etc.

    But whether your set point is low or high, it’s going to be a challenge for you to change it! Essentially, your brain doesn’t care if your life is getting better or worse. Either one represents the same thing: change. And as we learned last week, our brain absolutely hates change–even when we’re changing into exactly what we want.

    However, you are what you tolerate. You tolerate what you think you deserve. When you don’t think you deserve more, then you’re never going to let yourself get more! So it’s time to fundamentally change your perceptions of yourself so that you can allow in more.

    These minimum and maximum standards are part of our core identity and they control what we think we deserve in life! For most of us, that means that our standards (and our havingness levels) are way too low.

    But we are the ones creating the set point–and that means we also have the power to raise our set point so that we feel deserving of the things we want.


    How To Fix It:

    Think about your minimum and maximum standards in life. Maybe you would never dream of taking a job that paid less than $50,000 a year…but what would happen if you changed that to $75,000? Or maybe you sometimes see a very attractive person somewhere and think to yourself “Out of my league!” Well, what if they weren’t? What would you be doing differently if you didn’t make that assumption?

    Our internal set point can be tricky to identity at first! But once you do, it will become gradually easier to start pushing up your standards at both your low and high ends.


    Identity Shifting Technique #2:

    Your Limitations


    You can only ever do in life what you fundamentally believe you’re capable of! After all, if you think you’ll fail, you probably won’t give something your all–if you even bother to try at all!

    However, there’s a big disconnect between what we think we can do and what we are actually capable of. Most of us limit our future based on only what we know we can already do.

    All too often we base our future ideas based off of what we’ve done in the past. For example, “I could never fly a plane!” isn’t actually true at all. With enough training, you probably could learn to fly a plane. So why is it so easy to tell ourselves the story of “I can’t“?

    Again, it’s our subconscious mind’s job to keep us safe–and new activities are always potentially dangerous to this part of us, even though this is completely illogical. We’re all living proof that we can learn new things and try new projects. Yet for some reason we don’t think we can go any farther than we’ve already come!

    For example, we believe we just aren’t capable of learning more about money or relationships or whatever. But that limitation is really just being projected by us! We really are capable of achieving anything we put our minds to, even if we’ve never done it before. Once you realize your so-called limitations are just things you’ve decided to believe about yourself then you’ll be so inspired to drop them and find out what you’re really capable of!


    How To Fix It:

    The next time you find yourself saying (or thinking): “Oh I could never do that!” Stop! And ask yourself if that’s true. Why are you defaulting to that answer? What might happen if you gave it a shot?

    The best way to prove this one wrong is to go out there and to challenge yourself. The more you do this, the fewer of your so-called limitations you’ll still believe in.


    Identity Shifting Technique #3:

    You Attract Who You Are


    Again, we have no problem dreaming big and thinking of what we desire for our life. But we do have an awfully big problem making those visions come true. So why is that?

    Most of us think of a goal and we put all of our effort into making it happen.If I just try this new thing/create this new funnel/get this new job, then I will get X and then feel good about myself.

    But doing life that way is just as difficult as rolling a rock uphill! Yes, you’re focused on your goal and yes, you’re doing something about it. But you’ll keep finding yourself getting push back over and over again. Essentially, we’re making what should be a straight forward change into a very rocky and time-consuming journey.

    When we use our actions to change the world, we’re still relying on something outside of us to do the magic. However, the magic is really in us. It’s only once you change the way you perceive yourself, then you’ll finally create the momentum to get the rock to the top of that hill.

    If you don’t change the way you see yourself, the world isn’t going to change for you. Right now, you probably think that you’ll feel good once you achieve you goal–when in reality, you’ll only achieve the goal when you already feel good. This is truly the level 2.0 of manifestation! (Well beyond just “feeling good”.) Not only do you need to feel the feelings of what you want but you need to embody the person you really want to be.

    In other words, if you don’t do the identity shifting, you’ll simply keep on attracting who you already are. (And trust me! You’re probably already doing that and it isn’t so much fun.)


    How To Fix It:

    Who do you tell the world you are? What words to you use to describe yourself? Now think about it: who do you really want to be? Pick a few of those words that describe your Future You and work on embodying them now.

    Again, this isn’t about working until we believe it. It’s all about believing first and shifting into who you really want to be! And the beautiful thing is, you can start doing this today!




    So tell me gorgeous: what part of your identity is holding you back? Who do you really need to be to have what you want in life? Which technique worked the best for you?




    Just remember: the way you perceive yourself now is not reflective of where you want to go in life! (We know this because your old identity has created your current results.) It’s time to shift in closer to what we want and to drop the parts of us that are not working in our favor!

    Your identity is really a choice, even you chose a lot of it when you were very young and certainly weren’t thinking about where you want to be in life right now! But you are a Conscious Creator and it’s time for you to start consciously creating the exact life you were brought here to create.

    Tear Yourself Down To Rise The F*ck Up: Manifest Your Dreams Through Creating A New Identity

    Ever wonder why you can’t seem to make progress towards what you really want in life?

    You set your manifesting intentions. And you think you’re doing a great job!

    But when it comes to results? Not so much!

    But please don’t give up on yourself just yet sistah friend! Manifesting is both simple and complex. While the concepts are easy to digest, putting it all into action is frequently much harder than we’ve been led to believe.

    For example, one of the most common reasons why you might not be making progress is probably not what you’d first expect! But it could be simply because of your over-attachment to your identity.

    Creating a new reality for yourself requires you to step up and actually become someone new!



    For example, if you want to be a millionaire, you’ll only actually become one when you create the mindset and identity of a millionaire.

    Or if you want to call in your soul mate partner, you’ll find them when you’re already feeling so loved and secure in your own mind that it almost wouldn’t even matter if that other person was there or not!

    It’s impossible to call something in if you can’t vibe with it energetically! And stepping into becoming is by far the most powerful way you can align your energy with what you want (and who you really want to be).

    However, this is where things can get tricky. Creating a new identity is not just as easy as flipping your internal mental switch–unfortunately.

    After all, you’ve spent a lifetime being you! So there are some very well-worn ideas and concepts about yourself that you might find difficult to let go of. As Dr. Joe Dispenza tells us, being us is a habit–and one that we can find very difficult to break.

    But if you’re truly ready for what you want, then this identity work is an important thing for you to consider. So if you’re ready to step into your dream life (Yes! Finally) then this is the post for you!


    Tear Yourself Down To Rise The F*ck Up: Manifest Your Dreams Through Creating A New Identity


    Create Your New Identity Step #1:

    See Your Old Identity


    We all have stories and ideas about who we really are. While it might not seem like those things matter at all, they actually make a huge difference to your world and your results.

    For example, say you tend to think that you’re simply bad with money. Then think about how you might accidentally be making it more difficult to manifest money to you because of this belief.

    (Or fill in the blank with love, health etc!)

    If you truly believe you’re not good with money, then you’re probably not working on your money abilities. You’re probably not learning about it or trying to make more of it or keep the money you do have. In fact, you’ve probably surrendered away much of your own power: If I’m just not good at money, then not having money isn’t my fault! And I never have to work on changing that.

    Au contraire mon frère! While your ideas about your innate money talents and abilities probably came from a true event at some point, those individual events don’t actually have to mean anything about you. But holding onto your story as a crutch means you’ve incorporated it as part of your identity.

    Let’s take this example a bit farther! It’s also true that almost everyone has screwed up with money at a certain point! Maybe they got into credit card debt, lent someone money they never got back or made a bad investment. All of these examples are actually super common! But those self-made millionaires out there aren’t letting those minor setbacks dictate their money story moving forward. Instead of shrugging and saying “I don’t know how” they set about the very real business of learning how and changing their stories and identities around money.

    And that means you can too!

    Few things are forever–unless you decide that they should be! So think about what you’re trying to call in and get very honest with yourself. What do you tell the world about who you are and what you’re capable of in regards to this topic? And if you could shift your story just a little bit, what could else could change along with it?


    Create Your New Identity Step #2:

    Toss Out Old Limiting Beliefs


    Similar to your own story are your own beliefs about both the world and yourself.

    For example, one of the most insidious limiting beliefs I can think of is the simple idea that certain things cannot be changed! I know I grew up with this idea: you were just the way you were and that was that! So of course that idea also cuts off the chance for further expansion and growth–permanently.

    However, this is also patently untrue–and even science can back this up! Neuroplasticity has proven that our brains have the capacity to keep rewiring and changing throughout adulthood–an idea that was formerly thought shunned by science and society.

    You truly have the power to be a blank slate–and to test what you’re truly made of now (instead of basing your identity off of random events from your childhood–which is what most of us do).

    And that’s all just one example!

    Basically, anything that limits your happiness or potential in the world is considered a limiting belief. However, they’re not always easy to notice at first glance.

    So as you go through your week, I want you to simply notice any weird stories or ideas that pop up for you, especially in relation to your manifesting desire. Maybe you’re insisting on thinking “money is evil” or that “all the good ones are taken”. These ideas are never empirically true–so the real question is: is it serving you to keep believing in them?

    Remember, your old ideas are what created your life now! If you want to go to your next level, you also need to work on the new beliefs to match.

    Create Your New Identity Step #3:

    Create Your New Identity


    You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.

    Oh, The Places You Will Go! – Dr Seuss


    When you realize that you don’t have to be who you thought you were, then that opens the very important question: who do you really want to be?

    That might be overwhelming to think about at first so I find it’s easier to break it down when you think about what you want. Look at those big crazy life goals of yours and start to do some backwards detective work: what kind of person has that car? That apartment? Those clients? That many YouTube followers?

    Manifesting isn’t really ever just about the material things or arbitrary goals. It’s always about energy and alignment. When you get yourself ready to truly receive on the quantum field, that’s when all the outer stuff shows up (and when you’re like “Woohoo! I manifested that.”)

    But those things really aren’t the magic at all! The magic is you. When you step into your next level, only then does your next level arrive!

    So get excited because this also means you don’t have to sit around and wait for your manifestation to show up. You can start doing the work, right here, right now or at any other time when you decide to do so.


    Create Your New Identity Step #4:

    Be A Conscious Creator!


    Being a Conscious Creator really is just about that: consciously choosing and creating your life on every level! So stop relying on what you think you already know and ask yourself the most important question of all: what do you really want to be true?

    What would life be like if you choose to believe that you always had money? What would life be like if you choose to believe you were always surrounded by love? What would life be like if you really understood how powerful your beliefs and stories really are and started using them wisely?

    Personally, I can’t wait to find out!




    The story you tell about yourself has more impact on your success than anything else! So perhaps it’s time to start rewriting yours. It might be scary at first to let go to those comfortable old ideas about who you are in the world. But starting again with a blank slate is truly the best way for you to find out who you really are, for once and for all!

    Become The Person You Really Want To Be

    No matter what you’re manifesting goals are–big or small–there’s one thing that’s always true about the process.

    Getting new results always equals being different, in one way or another.

    Think about it: being who you’ve always been is what created your life now. So achieving new results will also mean changing some of your habits, behaviors and beliefs.


    The good news is it’s not actually that difficult to become who you want to be. All it really takes is a willingness to see the world differently.



    FYI, this is less about becoming better (because you’re not good enough the way you are) and more about unlearning all the bad mental habits that you’ve picked up over a lifetime. You’ve been deserving and capable this entire time. But it’s those negative stories, beliefs and thought patterns that are getting your way!

    The truth is you’ve had the capacity to be your best self this entire time! But when we default to fear, our worries and insecurities will always bubble up and get in the way.

    It’s not enough to simply think about the habits and behaviors you would have as this new version of you. It’s also key that you internalize them. When things are just part of your identity, that’s when you’ll find the most success.

    How To Become Who You Want To Be


    How To Become The Person You Really Want To Be Step #1:

    Throw Away Your Ideas



    Our attachment to current identity is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to change. When you ask someone why they haven’t created the million-dollar business of their dreams, they might answer: “I’m just not that good with money.” Or maybe the person who’s looking for love would say: “I’m just not good at relationships.”

    But this way of thinking is just letting your past interfere with your future potential! Remember there was a time in your life when you didn’t know how to tie a shoelace or drive a car. But you learned–even though both of those things seemed difficult at the time. Imagine what would happen if a little kid told you “I’m just not the type to tie a shoelace!” That would be a ridiculous thing for them to say instead of just learning how to do it. But when it comes to adults, we do this all the time!

    No matter how old you are, you get to learn new things. If you’re not good at something and you want to change, you can practice getting better! When you say “I’m just not good at money/love/public speaking” you’re only speaking a half-truth. That may have been your experience so far but you have the choice to keep believing that moving forward or not.

    The bottom line is that being overly attached to your old ideas of you have created your results so far. If you want to try out being someone new, you’ve got to throw yourself off the deep end and get willing to discover your true potential! Dropping your old ideas about you might be the best possible for move for your future success!


    How To Become The Person You Really Want To Be Step #2:

    Focus On Who You Want To Be



    So now that you’re willing to drop your old ideas about yourself, it’s time for the exciting part! Let’s design the person you want to be.

    Yes, I said design. Because truthfully our personas are always our own creation in the end. So tell me: if you had the ability to choose whatever kind of persona you wanted and to start fresh, who would you want to create? Where do you want to go?

    Please take your time answering this! I recommend that you to grab a piece of paper and spend 20 minutes writing out your ideas. What would you want to do with your time and career? What would you like other people to say about you? You might have a lot of ideas at first so look for the common threads. It might also help to think about people you admire and why you admire them. Typically, these people all have some things in common, even if they look very different at first glance.

    Then sleep on your answers! Sometimes the first thing that pops to mind isn’t your real priority! Just be deliberate about what you choose, as this is the ultimate lesson in consciously creating your life.


    How To Become The Person You Really Want To Be Step #3:

    Look For Evidence



    Ever wonder why you’re always right? Unfortunately, it’s not just your smarts and intuition! Your brain is incredibly talented at looking for evidence that supports your beliefs. It’s literally filtering the world to support your beliefs at every moment of the day.

    Of course, this poses a great challenge when you set out to change your beliefs. Your brain is going to show you a pile of “evidence” to reinforce your old identity at first. But don’t take the bait! Instead, simply start looking for evidence of the thing you want to believe.

    I’m not going to lie: this process is going to feel clunky and strange at first! It’s like the mental version of squeaky gears that need some oil and momentum to start going. So just keep going with it! On the plus side, your brain really loves this game. The more evidence for your new belief that you can find, the easier it will be for your brain to find more and more.

    This is the most fool-proof way to lock in your new identity! When your brain believes you are who you desire to be, you’re not going to have to bother finding evidence and reframing your beliefs. That new version of you will actually just be you.


    How To Become The Person You Really Want To Be Step #4:

    Project Yourself



    The final way to harness the energy of who you want to be is by acting like that person now. So don’t wait until you “feel like it”! Start choosing that new identity today and you’ll be surprised at just how fast your reality responds.

    A good question to ask yourself is about this is: “If I were a ______ person already, how would I behave?”

    For most of us, our future identity means a lot more than just one word! So experiment with this question and the qualities you want to embody: confidence, success, kindness etc.

    Every time you go through this exercise, jot down your ideas on a piece of paper. When you’r finished look at what you’ve come up with. Now you get to start challenging yourself: how can you start acting like this today, tomorrow and every day going forward? What new habits do you need to create for yourself?

    Maybe it’s getting up at 5 every day to go for a run. Maybe it’s putting on a full face of makeup for your stay-at-home job. Maybe it’s choosing a salad at lunch! We’re all different. But whatever actions come up for you, just be sure to truly enact those changes in your life starting now.




    Adopting a new identity is something we truly have the power to do at any time! So whatever your old identity might be (wallflower, un-athletic, self-conscious) you really can throw that away and start all over again! We can learn new ways of being just like any other skill or habit. You’re truly only limited by your imagination and your belief in yourself.

I used to be SHOCKINGLY ATTACHED to my sob story, firmly stuck in victim mode.All the time DREAMING about where I wanted to go--and confused as to why I wasn't there yet.Fortunately (after a lot of STRUGGLE) I opened my mind to change, massive shifts and MIRACLES.That's why I can tell you that getting stuck in wishing things were different cuts us off from both our power in the present and our ability to process.So know this my beautiful soul: the only liberation we need is our own.When you get brave enough to finally DO that, your whole world really will change.(& PS if you need a little help creating your own miracle, I have a few coaching spots open!
