Obviously, I’m a huge fan of the art of self-transformation.

There are few things that excite me more than the idea of consciously deciding on what you want your life to look like and then making it happen!

Of course, we all love a good transformation story: weight loss journeys, quitting jobs, finding relationships etc.

But admittedly those very big goals in life can seem awfully intimidating at first. So maybe we start to talk ourselves out of those things just because they’re hard or will take a lot of work or time.

So in today’s post, I just want to remind you of the power of small steps for your transformation!

It’s easy to see those big obvious steps and to think you’re not capable of them.

But actually the fastest and easiest way to transform your life is not to do something really big.

It’s really all about taking small, baby steps consistently.

What you do every day matters way more than what you do only once in a while!

Which means your habits and routines contain real potential to massively shift whatever it is that you want to shift.

So if you’re looking for a manageable first step to take, today I’ve got you covered! Here are forty small yet powerful habits that truly have the potential to flip your life into the next level.

Mindset

1. Name one big fear that you have right now and start making a plan to overcome it.

2. Start your day with enthusiasm, no matter what’s on your agenda.

3. Spend less time deliberating and make your decisions fast.

4. When you find yourself in reaction mode, remember to look at your thoughts for something you can shift.

5. Write out a gratitude list daily. (just 3-5 items is enough!)

Manifestation

6. Write down one big juicy manifestation goal for yourself and decide that you’re going to achieve it.

7. Start acting “as if” in all senses and challenge yourself to think, feel and act as if your goal was a certainty.

8. Do a quick manifestation meditation to start your day! (You can check out mine over on Insight Timer!)

9. Practice detaching from your goal: keep them in mind but don’t make them mean something bad about you if you don’t achieve them.

10. Go bigger than your goal! Ask yourself: who do you really want to be? How can you start being that person now?

Intentional Living

11. Start setting three intentions throughout your day for how you want things to go. (ie. “I’m going to have a great workout”, “This meeting is going to go well for me” etc.)

12. Spend time daily connecting to your big vision for your life.

13. Deliberately choose how you want to feel in any situation. (Easier said than done!)

14. Carve out time to spend on personal projects that are important to you. Even small bits of effort add up big over time!

15. Come back to mindfulness regularly. Notice how your body feels in this moment and what’s going on around you. Don’t get overly wrapped up in what’s next.

Spirituality

16. Set aside time daily to connect with a higher power (aka the Universe etc.)

17. Meditate for five minutes.

18. Pay it forward, by donating money to a worthy cause or just treating a friend.

19. Practice non-judgement: don’t make any assumptions about your fellow harried commuters, people on the street, in the mall etc.

20. Choose the loving choice. Always.

21. Drink more water.

22. You can’t eat enough fruit and veg! How can you start adding more throughout your daily routine?

23. Monitor your nightly sleep routine with an app on your phone (and get more if you’re not getting enough!)

24. Make your bedroom a no-device zone.

25. It’s simple but it works! Move your body every day by walking, running, yoga, or whatever feels good to you.

Money

26. Start a savings fund so you can eventually leave the job you hate so much.

27. Set a regular money date with yourself, so you can pay bills and track your accounts with a glass of bubbly (or kombucha).

28. Keep a shopping list so you cut-down on impulse spending.

29. Focus on paying off any credit card debt.

30. Get in the habit of paying cash (or debit) wherever possible.

Relationships

26. Take a friendship inventory and notice which friendships might have hit their expiration date. If spending time with someone is leaving you feeling more drained and stressed out than everyone else, it might be time to limit your interactions.

27. Share the love! Remind someone close to you exactly what they mean to you.

28. Set up a coffee date with someone you haven’t seen in a while.

29. Set a reminder to talk to a friend you haven’t heard from in a while.

30. Phone your mom. ????

Productivity

31. Plan out your week in advance.

32. Start using the Pomodoro Method to get more done in less time.

33. Make notes about any systems or ongoing projects you could delegate or outsource.

34. Don’t check your email first thing in the morning.

Happiness


36. Start planning a trip somewhere (even if you don’t know when you can actually take it!)

37. Go beyond surface interactions! Make a point to create a personal connection with someone.

38. Give yourself some time to totally unplug. No podcasts, books, TV shows etc! We seldom give ourselves time to think but it’s so important.

39. Spend some time in nature (or in a park in the city if need be!)

40. Energy is contagious so surround yourself with happy people!

4 Ways To Use Intentions To Change Your Life

There’s only one real difference between Conscious Creators and normal people.

Intention.

Setting an intention is the very first step towards creating life on your own terms.

You always have the choice between actively participating in creating your life or becoming an unconscious passenger.

(Personally, I’ve been both, so I can tell you with 100% certainty that conscious creation is much more fun!)

But even in the Law of Attraction community, there are often big issues when it comes to setting intentions.


The very act of setting an intention is staking a claim in your own future.



Intentions become the roadmap; without them, we’re riding a bike around but not headed anywhere in particular.

Of course, lovely things can still happen to you when you don’t have a sense of direction! But if there’s somewhere you want to go, then you need to create a plan for getting there.

When you’re not used to setting a concrete direction for yourself, it can be easy to underestimate the power of this act.

But make no mistake: without an intention, we’re just reacting to what happens to us, not actively creating the life that we desire.

It’s easy to overlook how important this act is so I challenge you to try it out for a week and see how it goes!

Of course, the true magic lies not in just deciding on what you want! Once you know what you want, you’ll subconsciously start making a million microdecisions that will actually help you get there.

Not to mention, that it’s only when the Universe knows what you want that it can conspire to help you achieve it. That’s why the simple act of setting intentions makes you magnetic to the very things you desire!

So to help inspire you to start setting more intentions for your life, here are four ways you can start using intentions to create massive change:

Use Intentions To Change Your Life Tip #1:

Long-Term Intentions



Long-term intentions are the ones you’ve probably set already. Think: your New Year’s resolutions, your one-year or five-year plan. While of course, it’s important to plan long term, the problem is that those big scary goals are often too big and scary for us to tackle head on!

So it’s also important to break them down into manageable chunks so you never feel overwhelmed or like you’re in over your head. If your goal seems too out there or unrealistic, it’s time to recalibrate. Intentions should always feel invigorating yet manageable, not like you’re asking for the impossible.


Use Intentions To Change Your Life Tip #2:

Daily Intentions



Every morning gives you a blank slate. It’s a fresh beginning–and it’s up to YOU to decide on where you’re going. Daily intentions are one of the most powerful practices you can do! While we plan for a distant future, it’s often too easy to forget just how much you can get done in one day!

So every morning, right after you wake up, it’s time to get intentional about what you’re creating for the day ahead. I like to set three different intentions each morning about how I want to feel and what I want to happen throughout the day.

Daily intentions seem to work so well in part because short-term goals aren’t so scary! You can relax here and practice manifesting fun things like rainbows or white birds. Or just set the intention to have something funny or unexpected to happen! Then once you see just how magical and crazy the Law of Attraction really is you can double down on the more serious stuff! Manifesting should always be fun and this practice is a good way to remind yourself of that.


Use Intentions To Change Your Life Tip #3:

Event Intentions



Every single important event that occurs in your life is an ideal opportunity to set an intention. Think: first dates, special presentations, job interviews. When I first started doing this I found it kind of crazy how few intentions I had set in the past!

Of course, we all walk into every first date and job interview thinking we want it to go well. But why not get more specific about what we want to have happen? Do you want to share a laugh? Have a great connection or intense attraction? Be offered a position for even more money than you anticipated?

As the saying goes, when you shoot for the moon you land in the stars! So try being bold and deliberate with your intentions and watch just how often they start to come true!

Business Intentions

As much as I’m an enthusiast of the Law of Attraction, applying intentions to my business is something I’ve only recently started doing! But it’s just as important to decide on what I want to happen in my business as it is for the rest of my life!

So I’ve started setting separate intentions, for my Facebook group, Instagram and blog. I’m going to make it a habit to reset and recalibrate them regularly. But you can do the same for your work, whether you’re self-employed or not.


The Sky’s The Limit

Intentions differ slightly from goals because they’re much more flexible. They can be big or small, important or whimsical. You can set them for actual events, for your emotional or mental state or for a certain outcome. You can also set them for other people in your life or for the world at large.

Basically, you can set an intention for anything you like! They’re like a wish but with the extra added power of intention. You’re not just wishing for something outside of yourself to magically happen; you’re doing the work of deciding on an outcome and calling it into you. It’s a simple yet profound practice, which is exactly why I love it so much.

How To Change Your Life The Easy Way

Want to change your life?

You can. And it’s as simple as creating a new habit.

It might sound boring, muggle and oh so un-magical but working with our entrenched routines is hands-down the easiest way to make a sustained change in our life.

Like it or not, we are what we do.

Our habits define us.



You can determine whether or not you’re a happy or healthy person based on what you do regularly.

You place the most importance on what you continually allow into your life.

But a problem arises when there’s a disconnect between what we want and what we do.

All too often, we default to what we did yesterday and the day before, even though those things are not necessarily serving our highest good.

But because they’ve become habits, we’ve stopped even thinking about them.

And that goes to show how habits can just as easily harm us, as serve us.

Similarly, creating new habits (or rituals, if you prefer to look at it that way) is a way to entrench the things you want to do and be into your daily life.

Basically, if you develop healthy, happy habits, you’re probably a healthy happy person with a healthy happy life.

One off events are not the things that change us, our mood, our personality. It’s the things we allow ourselves to do over and over again that have the power to change us.

For most of us, we don’t reach our big goals or create momentous changes in our life from one big action. We make change by changing us, our daily habits and thoughts, slowly and incrementally over time.

However, it’s much easier to work on ourselves this way, rather than saying something like “oh I want to run a marathon this year” and giving up on training after two weeks.

It’s much easier to start walking to work, taking the stairs, just putting on your shoes and running for a little bit every day rather than trying to hold onto some hardcore routine that someone else created.

It’s your life and the changes you make are up to you. All it takes is your thoughts and a bunch of tiny incremental pushes in the right direction.

And the cool thing is that once you realize this important concept, you can begin to take positive action right now.

So if you want to change your life to become healthier, less stressed etc. you’ve got to come up with actual game plan to help you get there.


How To Change Your Life The Easy Way



I know that once you see this correlation it’s easy to go off trying to change a bunch of things at once! But I’ll ask you to slow down a bit and make changes in a conscious, deliberate way. So let’s start by breaking down the process:


How To Change Your Life Step #1:

Dream


Since it’s New Years, you’ve probably put some thought into this recently. But if not, now’s as good a time as any to sit down and start brain mapping your desires. All journeys begin with a roadmap! We need a destination to steer our ship towards.

What are you looking to change in your life (for 2017 and beyond)? What do you want more of in life? What do you want less of? What are your big dreams? What do you crave? Let yourself think on this for a while, write some things down and don’t edit anything out.

When you’re done, keep an eye out for any themes that repeat themselves. We usually want a bunch of things that are actually quite similar, so once you figure out what that main thing (or two) is, make a note of it.


How To Change Your Life Step #2:

Observe



Now that you have a clear idea or two about where you really want to go, it’s time to take stock of your daily routines and habits.

Become mindful over the next few days of where you spend your time. Sure, some of this is out of your control (work, commuting etc.) but look at what you really do with your time (and be honest.)

This step is only about observing our regular habits. For example, going to the gym once a month is not a regular habit and shouldn’t be included.

Losing weight an easy example. What are your daily eating and exercising habits? (Answer honestly!) You might say you only indulge in dessert a couple times a week but in reality in might be much, much more (and that’s where the disconnect between desire and action becomes evident).


How To Change Your Life Step #3:

Analyze



Once you’ve spent some time in this comfortable observation, it’s time to think more critically. Do your regular actions show any evidence of going for your goal?
How do your existing daily habits serve or diminish this goal? For most people, the results are mixed (no one’s perfect of course!)

You might already have some habits that are in alignment with your goal. That’s great! Make a note of what those are. Then start looking at the habits that aren’t serving you (even if they’re pleasurable): social media, Netflix, whatever.


How To Change Your Life Step #4:

Swap



Now it’s time to think objectively about your existing habits, and how you can make them better for what you want.

If you want more of something, you’ll need to create space for it. After all, we all have time limitations! There’s only 24 hours in a day. If you want to create more time for something that’s important to you, you’ll need to spend less time doing something that’s not as important.

After you look at your day objectively, it’s much easier to see how scrolling through Facebook for an hour isn’t really serving your highest good. It might still be all too easy to get sucked into these mindless activities, the more often you choose something better, the easier it will get.

The bottom line is that if you want it, you’ll make room for it.

If you want a healthier body, you need to eat better and work out more. If you want to be more calm and focused, you need to meditate more. If you want better grades you’ll study more. If you want a new job, you need to devote time to upgrading your skills or actively looking for a new one. If you want a new romantic partner, you need to spend time meeting new people.

So please adapt this concept to make it work for you!


A Final Caveat



Please don’t overload yourself with lots of “must do’s”. Trying to change every little thing all at once is pretty guaranteed to be a recipe for disaster. It’s just too overwhelming! And the point here is to create momentum with manageable changes.

So aim to change only one or two small things at a time. Wait a long time (at least a month) before incorporating more little changes.

Quantum leap changes are possible, but only under the right circumstances. I’d rather encourage you to take the slower route rather than throw all of your magic eggs in one basket only to become discouraged when a miracle doesn’t occur within the next week.


Manifesting + Habits



This isn’t a post about manifesting specifically but you likely already know my take on it: the Law of Attraction is always working for you, whether you believe in it or not. So even though this post today shares a very practical way of making life changes, it still uses the same basic principles of manifesting: action and intention.

The thing is that once you set out to do, have or be something, and begin to really invite that thing into your life, the Universe has a funny way of lining things up to help you achieve it. So remember that, no matter what way you approach creating the life you truly want there’s always a little magic at work behind the scenes. ✨
