My Top 10 Favorite Spiritual + Self-Help Books

Curious about my top 10 favorite spiritual and self-help books?

I’ve been asking you guys for questions and comments over on Instagram lately and a few of you have asked me about my favorite books.

What an awesome question! I’ve read a TON of spiritual and personal development books over the last six years and I’ve learned so much along the way. In order to write this post, I had to take a deep dive into my files (and memory) to decide on which ones were the most impactful.

Books are one of my favorite ways to learn and gain new perspectives, especially from some of the people I admire the most in the world!

I read a lot actually and I generally have more than one book on the go at any time. Plus all my books have been digital in recent years I can’t rely on my bookshelf for a visual reminder of what I’ve read.

It was really fun to go back and re-visit everything! I confess that I have so many books on my to-read list that sometimes I think move from one book to the next far too quickly. It actually takes time to digest and implement everything you read! But I’m just always so excited to learn something new.

So in case you were curious, here’s my list of absolute favorite spiritual and personal development books. (Plus a few more, because why stop at ten really?)

My Top 10 Favorite Self-Help Books

My Favorite Self-Help Books #1:

Danielle Laporte: The Desire Map

The Desire Map

Full disclosure: I’ve had a girl crush on Danielle Laporte since her Style Statement days. She has such a wonderful way with words and she’s a true trailblazer in the way she looks at the world. I’ve learned a lot from her over the years (plus she’s also from Vancouver! *high five*) If you had to pick just ONE book to read on this list, I recommend this one. I’ve already written a whole article about just how well her concept of Core Desired Feelings works with the Law of Attraction (read it here). But don’t miss out on the book itself!

My Favorite Self-Help Books #2:

Pam Grout: ESquared

E-Squared

I honestly didn’t really know what this book was going to be about when I first picked it up! But honestly it’s amazing. Pam Grout is another perhaps less-known practitioners of the Law of Attraction. In this book, she offers several quantum reality experiments for you to play with! I love her playful and fearless attitude towards life and the Universe (or the FP, as she calls it).

My Favorite Self-Help Books #3:

Penney Peirce: Frequency: The Power of Personal Vibration

Frequency

This is the best book I’ve ever encountered on the subject of vibration, frequency and energy. If you’ve read all the Law of Attraction books and are ready to take your knowledge to the next level, be sure to check this one out!

My Favorite Self-Help Books #4:

Phil Stutz & Barry Michels: The Tools

The Tools

As you might know, I have a psychology degree. But before I was even done my degree I knew I didn’t want to be a psychologist. There were several issues that lead to that decision but one of them was my frustration with actual tools to help people feel better! The Tools contains several easy-to-use tools that are highly applicable to anyone’s life. I also LOVE the fact that they fully acknowledge the similarity of spirituality and psychology, an opinion that’s rare in the psychology world.

My Favorite Self-Help Books #5:

Neil Strauss: The Truth

The Truth

Surprised? Yes, I was too! You might know Neil Strauss as the author of the pick-up artist’s manual, The Game. (I read that too!) But trust me, there’s a lot of depth here! In this book, Neil chronicles his turn away from monogamy and then back again. But (like in The Game), the real story here is his deepening understanding of himself and common motivations in romantic relationships. I devoured this in a day and it has had an impact on the way I see relationships.

(Note: if you’re extremely conservative this might not be the relationship book for you!

My Favorite Self-Help Books #6:

Gay Hendricks: The Big Leap

The Big Leap

This book is mostly known for introducing the idea of an “upper limit problem”: the way in which we unwittingly put a limit on our own happiness levels. That’s an amazing concept in itself but my favorite part of this book is the explanation of Einstein-based relative time. (In fact, I did a blog post about that idea right here!)

My Favorite Self-Help Books #7:

Jen Sincero: You Are A Badass

You Are A Badass

Have you ever read a book and wished you had written it yourself? That was this one for me! There’s so much in Sincero’s story that I resonate with! But the lessons are practical and highly-impactful. Plus this book is funny! If you’re looking for some self-help with a heap of humor, then make sure you check it out.

My Favorite Self-Help Books #8:

Marie Kondo: The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Okay this is fully NOT a spiritual book! This is a handbook to help you get your home in order, in a loving way. As you might know I am a huge believer in the power of our environment- especially in our home. That’s because we’re energetic beings and we’re constantly surrounded by energy. While the book is extremely practical, the methods seem highly spiritual in my mind! Basically, this book takes your hand and teaches you how to take care of the stuff in your home.

My Favorite Self-Help Books #9:

Eckhart Tolle: The Power Of Now

The Power of Now

Another classic work from another Vancouver-ite! I talk a lot here about the power of embracing the current moment; this book is where all of that originated. But truthfully, I’m due for a re-read.

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

My Favorite Books #10:

Paulo Coelho: The Alchemist

The Alchemist

The Alchemist is a beautiful little fictional book with some important life lessons. If you’re new to spirituality or LoA, this is a wonderful (and fast!) read that shows the power of faith in action.
